Forgotten Timepieces

Home Page

Out of everything in the world, a watch or clock or timepiece of sorts are used all of the time. My services are for mainly those pieces that have been forgotten or neglected through the test of time. Hence the name Forgotten Timepieces.

Our expertise lies in antique watches and clocks. Personally, to date, I have twenty three years experience in the profession of repair, and servicing of clocks, watches, and pocket watches.

Alot of the tools I use are the same ones of yesteryear, like hand graving an arbor on a watchmaker's lathe (my pride) and even all of the way down to poising a balance on a poising tool that is at least sixty years old. Alot of the times tools are required for clock repair and watch repair alike that require me to design and make tools just because they are no longer available or just don't exist.

I have worked on watches and clocks alike from as early as the the mid 1700's to almost present. Take for instance an Illinois pocket watch made in say 1910. To most people it makes a nice heirloom or relic. It's even better if it still works.

Do we have anything made today made for the general public that will be around for a hundred years or more?

Now just think, they were able to make a working piece of art, a time piece that was built to last with somewhat primitive machinery or tools by today's standards. All things mechanical, especially on the small side are a thing of beauty in my eyes.

The time it takes to simply service a clock or watch varies with each piece. A pocket watch that only requires cleaning for proper regulation may only take a couple hours initially, while a clock repair with a broken gear may take several hours. There are times when we just can't find replacement parts for the piece to be serviced, so then we have to make them as well.

All movements, watch or clock, are timed, and regulated as necessary. All clock movements are taken apart and cleaned and inspected by hand. Watch movements are taken apart as well for inspection, but we have a cleaning machine that does an exceptionally well job.

All timepieces that are used regularly should have routine maintenance done at least once every one to two years. A broken clock or watch is worth less than one that works. Sometimes older is better.

All services are broken down into sections with what is provided. Just click on whats closest to your inquirery and click.

Any questions, just let me know. For those interested, and live nearby, I'll come to you. I am willing to do services and repairs on watches and pocket watches via the mail. Please contact for more information.

All services are guarenteed and if I can't fix it, well, it don't cost you anything. I'll even pay to ship it back. If the repair is done via mail, I will email you with the details of what needs to be done and wait for the ok before servicing begins. And as before, just contact me with questions or inquiries. I will do everything I can to make your watch or clock run like new again.
